Mononoke Village
HOME ⁄ What is Ghibli Park? ⁄ Mononoke Village
This area is inspired by the Japanese mountain village landscape in Princess Mononoke. It features hands-on learning center, Tatara-ba, Lord Okkoto slide and Demon Spirit structure.
Tatara-ba
Tatara-ba is a hands-on learning center designed to look like a building in the film. Grass is laid on the roof. Currently, you can try making a local specialty called Gohei-mochi (rice cakes) on a charcoal grill.
Charcoal Grilled Gohei-mochi Cooking Experience
Gohei-mochi is made with white rice, lightly pounded and wrapped around a wooden skewer. It is then sauced and grilled. It is a local specialty in the hillside towns of Aichi and surrounding prefectures. At Tatara-ba you can add your preferred sauce and cook it yourself over a traditional charcoal grill. Don't miss your chance to learn a bit of food culture and enjoy this beloved local snack.
